ROBBINS THRILLS FANS IN MILAN WIN
(8-8-06) HIGHLAND, MI - Brian Robbins gave racing fans a real treat Friday night on his way to a career best 6.26 at 226 victory in the Skinny Kid Race Cars Friday Night Heads-Up Racing Series at Milan Dragway.
Since their mid-July start, driver Robbins and team owner Keith "Skinny Kid" Engling have been enjoying a season of victories in 2006.
In their July trip to the Super Chevy Show in Indianapolis, Robbins converted his qualifying run of 6.437 at 218.05 into an event victory. From there, the team battled the heat (and some nearby tornadoes) to race to a 6.58 at 217 NMCA victory in the Motive Gear NMCA/NMRA Super Bowl of Drag Racing at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL. The NMCA win put the blown alcohol Olds into the final shootout against NMRA Diablosport Pro5.0 winner Tony Bischoff, but Bischoff edged out Robbins in a 6.63 to 6.83 victory.
After that, it was on to Milan for some serious Heads-Up racing, with Robbins and Engling on a personal quest to break into the 6.2 second range. After qualifying at 6.49 at 224 mph, the team pulled out all the stops. It took sheer determination and driving skill for Robbins to pilot the fishtailing Olds to victory through eliminations, but the final run was arrow straight and marked a team milestone with the 6.26 at 226 win.
Up next for the team, it's back to Joliet to defend their win in the Super Chevy Show series.
Both Engling and Robbins would like to take the time to thank their sponsors and would appreciate if you would take the time to visit their sponsor’s websites.
